The origin of DIR EN GREY’s current reflection

Celebrating their 15th year together since their debut, the release of DIR EN GREY’s 9th album “ARCHE” has been confirmed on December 10, 2014, 3 years and 4 months after the release of their last album. Starting with the meaning behind the title ‘Arche’ which means ‘origin’ in Greek, how will the sound and artwork be put together, how will the ‘pain’ that has been laid down in the foundation of DIR EN GREY be expressed, how will it be translated to the listeners not just in Japan but also abroad? INORAN - Mini-album somewhere now available!

Muddy Apes about to release their 2nd album across Europe and America!

Muddy Apes who made a striking debut with the album “Crush It” are ready to release their second shot, called “Fairy Dirt No. 5” not only across Europe but also all over America on July 25th via Okami Records. Fairy Dirt No. 5 is not only a blend of east meets west but of various musical influences that stretch further than ever before this time. Producer heavyweight Steve Orchard himself has been involved in this exciting project as a mixing engineer. But still that’s not all: With Chris Sheldon who has worked with Foo Fighters and FEEDER in the past, another big name of the scene joined the recording process.

lynch. – new single BALLAD out February 20

Again lynch. return to Europe with their new single named BALLAD that is set to be released simultaneously with Japan on February 20th all over Europe.

The title track is driven by a sad and moody atmosphere, supported by soft piano sounds and Hazuzkis sensitive voice that is permanently altering between desperation and aggression. Unlike BALLAD, the second song CRYSTALIZE is more a classic four-to-the-floor rock song including break downs and strongly distorted guitars, that will make you bang your head for sure!

DIR EN GREY – RINKAKU out February 1st all over Europe

Since the release of their 8th album „DUM SPIRO SPERO“, DIR EN GREY went into hiatus following a vigorous touring schedule in Japan and abroad. Now a year and a half since their last single release, the band returns with
RINKAKU which will be available for download and stream all over Europe on February 1st.

The track almost overturning the band’s musical concept on a new scale, coming in with a range full of depth with Kyo’s vocals that evoke classical elements in this beautiful and intricate melodic track which builds up dramatically with the intertwining guitars and bass.

The new single from DIR EN GREY will be released with two tracks which will include a new rendition of “Kiri to Mayu” previously released on the album ‘MISSA’ (25.07.1997) and a remix of “RINKAKU” by famed sound designer of horror game series ‘Silent Hill,’ Akira Yamaoka. Once again Tue Madsen came on as the Mix Engineer for this release after lending his unrivaled expertise on „DUM SPIRO SPERO.“

DIR EN GREY canceling all live activities until April 2012

Under recommendation of frontman KYO’s physician after extensive examination of his vocal chords, DIR EN GREY has regretfully cancelled their participation in “The Still Reckless Tour” and solo shows scheduled between March and April 2012.

DIR EN GREY - UROBOROS remastered and expanded out on the 20th of January 2012

A remastered version aptly titled UROBOROS Remastered & Expanded brings you 15 tracks, now including the long version of ‘SA BIR’ that was only heard live before, the exclusive version of ‘BUGABOO’ that was previously only available on the limited first press analog release, ‘DOZING GREEN’ and ‘GLASS SKIN’ with Japanese lyrics, and ‘HYDRA 666’ the coupling track on single “DOZING GREEN.” With the the return of sound engineer Tue Madsen, who worked on the band’s latest album “DUM SPIRO SPERO” the sound of “UROBOROS” is reborn.

UROBOROS Remastered & Expanded will be available for download on the 20th of January.

DIR EN GREY issue open letter about Japan

Japanese rockers DIR EN GREY have issued an open letter to fans.

The band address the this year’s tragedy in Japan and have spoken about their new album.

“The earthquake this March took the lives of many people, including many DIR EN GREY supporters. Now, in many places throughout the country, high radiation levels have been detected; everyone including ourselves has been exposed to the radiation and there are even some who say the contamination is so bad we are at risk to not be able to travel to the USA and other countries in the future.”

“On March 11th, the band was in the studio in Tokyo working on the new album when the earthquake hit. Afterwards the power shortages and transportation chaos caused further complications, and our many thoughts crossed our mind: ‘will this album really be completed?’; ‘will we ourselves be able to continue working towards the completion?”; and “is it right to continue making this album?’”

“August 3rd 2011 is the release date of our new album DUM SPIRO SPERO. This normally would have been a wonderful day where our work was to be released out into the world. However, there are still many people in Japan suffering from the disaster and so with the intention of self-restraint, we will to refrain from words of joy on this occasion.”

“But we cannot stop moving forward due to this. We are currently in Japan now; however it is unclear to what extent the government’s statements are correct, and to be honest, no one really knows what is going on in Japan right now. The safety regulations for safe level of radiation exposure keep getting increased higher and higher, yet the only official announcement is that “there is no effect on health.” We can no longer tell whether we are a democratic nation. Unless you are careful with your words, you will be taken down with significant force. At this point we do not have the ability to truly find out what is occurring in our own country.”

“However, we want to know the truth. People are able to overcome huge obstacles and problems if they know the truth.”

“In the album title While I Breath I Hope, and our music video Different Sense that we released just prior to the album, our sense of wanting to take action that will lead to a breakthrough in the current situation is reflected.”

“The beginnings of something as significant as the velvet revolution are said to have been in the Prague Spring which was started by a rallying of people of culture.”

“For all of you who have read this, we ask that you do what you can to support us in our search for the truth.”

Tell us about the album title “DUM SPIRO SPERO”:

Kyo: It doesn’t matter how you interpret, or if you take the paradox meaning of the title. I’d like to leave the interpretation to those who read our lyrics and listen to the songs on this CD.
Toshiya: We live in a world where we don’t know what is the truth what we should believe in. I just wanted to put some hope into the music that we created.
Kaoru: And, the title is what we can say to the world as the people of Japan.

Hageshisa To, Kono Mune No Naka De Karamaitsuita Shakunetsu No Yami”, “LOTUS” and “DIFFERENT SENSE” are all singles released before the album. Can you please tell us where these songs stand in DUM SPIRO SPERO?

Kaoru: Those songs are definitely some of the highlights of the album, but they are actually the more catchy and easy-listening songs on this album. Can you even imagine what our other songs are like?

DIR EN GREY safe and well following Japanese earthquake

Following the earthquake and subsequent tsunami that hit Japan earlier today (March 11), a spokesperson for DIR EN GREY has contacted Kerrang! to say that the Osaka rockers are safe despite being in Tokyo when the natural disasters occurred.

“The band were in the studio working on their next record in Tokyo when the earthquake struck,” reads a statement from the band’s management. “All the members are all right and safe. But we still have aftershocks.”

DIR EN GREY causes world sensation at the APOCALYPTICA show in Los Angeles!

A sensation took place on APOCALYPTICAs 7th Symphony Tour in North America, when Kyo from DIR EN GREY entered the stage for the world premiere of the APOCALYPTIKA song „BRING THEM TO THE LIGHT“.
On the 8th of September 2010 APOCALYPTICA announced the world premiere of „BRING THEM TO THE LIGHT“ at LA’s Nokia Club with Kyo the vocalist of DIR EN GREY on the lead vocals.

That was a world premiere and most of all a world sensation for DIR EN GREY and for their fans, too. Kyo had never before featured another band.
That he was absolutely ready for this step and matched great with APOCALYPTICA can be witnessed in this video:

And it seems like Kyo enjoyed rocking with APOCALYPTICA- he did it again at their show in San Francisco.

JAPANESE CULTROCKER DIR EN GREY - announced for european festivals and clubtour!

The most noted japanese rock band DIR EN GREY has spread a wildfire
with the latest album “UROBOROS”. The demand from any
festival-organizer and booker, the interest of the media at japanese
bands and the fanbase boomed. Now it´s a pleasure for us to announce
the following DIR EN GREY festivalgigs: Rock am Ring (GER), Rock im Park
(GER), Download Festival(UK), Nova-Rock (A), Metal Town (SE).

DIR EN GREY will play one show with Killswitch Engage in France as well.

In June they will have their european tour through Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland and Italy. Suitable to the shows DIR EN GREY will release a new DVD in europe. The DVD “TOUR08 THE ROSE TRIMS
